A recent survey of energy use by congregations by the U.S.  Energy Information Administration shows that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning consume almost 70% of energy use. Lighting, cooking, and water heating account for most of the rest. Energy efficiency improvements represent a high-impact climate solution within the control of faith communities.

Our Power of Faith program guides congregations to cut unnecessary energy use. FACS and the EPA developed a useful ENERGY STAR Energy and Water Efficiency Checklist for Worship Facilities that can help your congregation identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption.

We can also provide technical assistance to guide your community through upgrades to heating, air conditioning, and ventilation. We’ll point you to companies that other congregations have used successfully for heat pump installations, weatherization, and more.
