Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions

May 2022 Northern Valley Hub Updates

genlack-dev, April 27, 2022

Our newest FACS hub launched with a wonderful celebration on April 24th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Frederick County in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. If you’re interested in joining the Northern Valley Hub, please let us know at info@faithforclimate.org.

We were blessed with a delightful spring day full of fellowship, environmental stewardship, worship, delicious vegetarian food, and the laughter of children.

Residents of the Village of Orchard Ridge, a Lutheran retirement community, showed how they turn plastic bags into charming mats and purses. Bethel Church members educated attendees about plastic waste, recycling in Frederick County, and reducing our carbon footprints.

FACS’ executive director gave a presentation on what it means to become a hub and the many ways we advocate and implement local climate solutions. Then we headed outside to bless a newly planted native crabapple tree together. And finally we enjoyed a wonderful meal of vegetarian pizza and cupcakes.

We are so happy to have this new hub join our community of faith advocates!  Welcome to our Northern Valley Hub!!!
