August 2021 Arlington Hub Updates

The Arlington Hub continues to engage with other climate advocacy groups to develop an educational program to raise the public’s knowledge of carbon neutrality, what changes are necessary to get there, and what that world may look like. The first session is planned for Thursday, September 23.

The Arlington Hub also offered testimony to the County Board’s proposed three-year Capital Improvement Plan, noting that while the projects were commendable, the  plan ignored their climate impacts and technology improvements over the past ten years. We called for all replacement vehicles in the Arlington Transit (ART) fleet be electric (instead of waiting until 2025), that building HVAC replacements be electric heat pumps (preferably with geothermal systems), and that every project be reviewed with a climate impact lens.

Look for our monthly Hub meetings on the FACS events calendar.
