Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS) is proud to announce our 2018 Sustainability Champion Awards and Showcase on June 10 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. 

The event will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a Showcase “Expo” featuring local organizations’ sustainability initiatives. To reserve a table, please email info@faithforclimate.org. 

At 3:30 p.m. we will hear from our keynote speakers Grandmother Teresa and Juanita Cabrera Lopez and present awards to our 2018 FACS Sustainability Champion Award recipients. 

From 4:30 – 5:00, the event will end with additional time to explore the local organizations at the showcase.

Grandmother Teresa is an elder and spiritual leader in the Maya community and a board member of the Mayan League. She has decades of experience working to address the root causes contributing to discrimination, inequality, and oppression of the Maya and the destruction of communities and environment. She is guided by the knowledge and teachings of Mayan elders and ancestors to respect and care for Mother Earth and Mother Nature. 

Juanita Cabrera Lopez is the executive director of the Mayan League. She works with Maya leaders and elders through their traditional institutions for environmental protection, recognition of land rights, human rights, cultural preservation and education.
